IAIABC Regulatory Handbooks

The IAIABC has compiled regulatory information on several special topics. These handbooks were written by experienced regulators and undergo periodic committee review.

The following handbooks are available to members to download, free of charge!

Disaster Preparedness Manual

The Disaster Preparedness Manual was compiled by the IAIABC Disaster Preparedness Task Force to assist workers' compensation administrative agencies in auditing their preparedness for minimizing the effects of catastrophic events on the continuity of agency operations and the delivery of benefits to injured workers. The guide makes use of the best features of other disaster preparation guides and manuals already in use, particularly those in use by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and the Association of Workers' Compensation Boards of Canada.

Mediation and Dispute Resolution

Based on the work of the Alternative Dispute Resolution/Judicial Committee, the Mediation and Dispute Resolution Handbook promotes effective and efficient methods in all areas of dispute resolution, whether performed as part of the administrative or adjudicative process.

Self Insurance

The Self Insurance Regulators' Handbook is a compendium of information and tools to assist regulators in developing fair and efficient policies to regulate self-insurance. The Self Insurance Regulators' Handbooks consists of 14 chapters (200 pages) and 4 appendices (over 700 pages of contact information, forms, and surveys!) written and reviewed by self insurance experts from the regulatory and private sectors.
