The Appropriate Use of Narcotics in the Treatment of Occupational Injuries
February 12, 2009
11:00 am - 6:00 pm
Orlando, FL
For the past several years, the use of opioids in the treatment of occupational injuries has seen a dramatic increase. According to the National Council on Compensation Insurance, four of the top ten prescriptions in 2005 and 2006 were narcotics.
Many in workers’ compensation believe this problem is become very dangerous, resulting in poor return to work outcomes, growing addiction, and rising costs. Responding to concerns raised from regulators, claims adjusters, judges and physicians, the IAIABC in collaboration with the Florida Association of Workers' Compensation Claim Professionals (WCCP) has developed the seminar, The Appropriate Use of Narcotics in the Treatment of Occupational Injuries, to discuss the use of pain medication in treating occupational injuries.
Attendees will appreciate the high caliber expertise of the presenters, and their objective approach in presenting the latest medical evidence on opioid use. In addition, attendees will value the chance to dialogue on this important issue and identify solutions to protect injured workers from the unintended consequences of inappropriate use of pain medications.
The seminar, The Appropriate Use of Narcotics in the Treatment of Occupational Injuries, will be held at the Doubletree Castle Hotel. Take advantage of a discounted room rate of $152 per night (plus tax) by calling the Doubletree Castle, 800-952-2785 before January 20, 2009.
