The IAIABC supports four members-only councils: the EDI Council, Associate Members Council, Board of Regents, and the Joint Committee Council. Councils and Board participation are by appointment or election only.
EDI Council
The EDI Council supports the efforts of the IAIABC EDI program and manages the work of the EDI committees. EDI Council involvement is by appointment only, and has equal representation from jurisdictional and associate members. The EDI Council plays a significant role in standard-setting for EDI in workers' compensation, establishing a seat on the EDI Council as a coveted and honored position.
Associate Member Council
The Associate Member Council (AMC) addresses issues of particular importance to IAIABC Associate Members. The AMC provides a very important forum for workers’ compensation industry professionals to share challenges and solutions with each other, and also provides a line of communication between the industry professionals and the regulators. This link is important in that it gives all stakeholders a voice in shaping change in workers’ compensation. AMC members are individuals from organizations that include insurers, medical providers, vendors, state funds, and other stakeholders. The AMC appoints up to 15 representatives of IAIABC Associate Members for three-year terms.
Board of Regents
The Board of Regents has historically been the organizer and producer of the IAIABC Workers’ Compensation College. However, the IAIABC Executive Committee has decided not to hold the Workers’ Compensation College in its current form during 2010. The Board of Regents is currently working with IAIABC leadership to determine a new direction for the Workers' Compensation College. The Board of Regents has five elected members representing four regions of the United States and one from outside the U.S. The Vice President of the Executive Committee serves as a sixth member of the Board of Regents, and the Executive Director of the IAIABC serves as the Dean. The elected members each serve five-year staggered terms.
Joint Committee Council
The Joint Committee Council is made up of the Chairs, Co-Chairs, and Vice Chairs of all IAIABC Committees, Boards, and Councils. The Joint Committee Council discusses issues of mutual interest to all Committees and assists in planning and development of educational components for IAIABC events.
