The mission of the Medical Committee is to design and maintain the jurisdictional reporting of medical billing/payment transactions and develop the common definitions and coding structures to meet technical and business requirements of claims administrators and state jurisdictions; to ensure that the IAIABC medical transactions are current with HIPAA-mandated standards, as appropriate; and to generate documentation for implementation efforts.
Recent Accomplishments:
Published IAIABC EDI Implementation Guide for Medical Bill Payment Records, Release 1.1, dated July 1, 2009.
Published IAIABC Workers’ Compensation Electronic Billing and Payment National Companion Guides based on ASC X12 004010 and NCPDP 5.1, Release 1.0, dated June 2, 2009.
Current Work:
Create Release 2 for Medical Bill Payment Records based on the ASC X12 005010 and related TR3 requirements (status:under development).
Create Release 2 for eBill Companion Guides based on ASC X12 005010 and NCPDP D.0 (status: completed, but pending approval).
Create Model Rule for electronic medical billing for jurisdictional use (status:completed and approved by IAIABC Executive Committee June 1, 2010).

Pro-Pay Working Group (Subcommittee) – second Wednesday of each month at 1:00 Eastern time
