The IAIABC EDI Training Team is excited to partner with specialists from the California Division of Workers' Compensation to host California Specific EDI Training. The training program will increase your knowledge and understanding about both claims and medical reporting using IAIABC EDI standards.

The following individudals should make plans to attend:

• WC Third Party Administrators
• WC Technology Vendors

June 21-22

Monday, June 21
1:30 - 5:00 pm
EDI Claims
Attendees will learn how to submit workers' compensation First Report of Injuries (FROIs) and Subsquent Report of Injuries (SROIs) to the California Division of Workers' Compensation Information System using the IAIABC Claims Release 1 standard. Course objectives include:
  • Learn how to establish an EDI partnership with the State of California and how to file an EDI Trading Partner agreement. 
  • Review the California Trading Partner Table to learn event triggers, what reports to file, what data elements are required, and when to file them.
  • Learn important terms and concepts for claims transactions including acknowledgements, error, and benefit codes.
  • Understand the sequence for reporting claim events to the State of California
  • Quickly fix rejected reports and avoid common reporting errors
  • Have questions? Experts from the California Division of Workers’ Compensation will be available to answer your specific FROI and SROI reporting questions.
Tuesday, June 22
9:00 am - 4:30 pm
EDI Medical
California is one of the first states to adopt the IAIABC Medical Bill Payment Reporting standard. The training program will cover file structure, contents, and error avoidance and correction. The program is especially suitable for California medical bill payment data reporters. Course objectives include:
  • Review the California Trading Partner Agreement, Trading Partner Table, and medical bill reporting sequence.
  • Learn important terms about ASC X12 and what it means for EDI Medical Bill Reporting standards in California.
  • Understand the importance of transaction sets and segments to avoid errors in the reporting process.
  • Increase your reporting accuracy by learning how to use the IAIABC Medical Implementation Guide.
  • Quickly respond and fix transaction errors and transaction rejections.
  • Prepare for upcoming rule changes that will impact medical bill reporting requirements.
  • Have questions? Experts from the California Division of Workers’ Compensation will be available to answer your specific questions on Medical 837 reporting.
