Introduction to EDI Claims Release 3.1

This module provides an overview of the IAIABC’s new EDI Claims Release 3.1 Standard. After completing the module, learners will be able to:

  • Understand why Claims Release 3.1 was necessary and the business driver(s) to develop a new release of the claims standard
  • Review and understand the scope of changes incorporated in Claims Release 3.1 (trading partner tables, MTCs, data elements, and record layouts)
  • Identify the impact of Claims R3.1 to the industry / jurisdiction stakeholders

The Introduction to EDI Claims Release 3 and the Implementation Guide training module is for those new to the IAIABC EDI Claims Release 3.0 Standard.

This module provides an overview of the IAIABC’s EDI Claims Release 3.0 Standard. After completing the module, learners will be able to:

  • Define and give examples of key terms related to EDI Claims Release 3.0
  • Explain what data is reported by the EDI Claims Release 3.0 Standard and what the data is used for
  • Describe, on a basic level, how data is reported using the EDI Claims Release 3.0 Standard
  • Understand how to successfully navigate the sections and information presented in the EDI Claims Release 3.0 Implementation Guide

Introduction to Electronic Medical Billing (eBilling)

This module provides an overview of the IAIABC’s Electronic Medical Billing Model Rule and Companion Guide. After completing the module, learners will be able to:

  • Define medical eBilling (paper vs. eBilling, eBilling and state reporting, value proposition)
  • Understand all participants’ roles in eBilling
  • Define and give examples of key terms related to eBilling
  • Understand transaction standards

Introduction to Medical State Reporting

The Introduction to IAIABC Medical State Reporting training module provides an overview of the IAIABC’s EDI Medical State Reporting Standard. After completing the module, learners will be able to:

  • Understand X12 and how it relates to the IAIABC Standard
  • Explain the difference between eBilling and medical state reporting
  • Understand all stakeholders’ roles in EDI Medical State Reporting
  • Define and give examples of key terms related to EDI Medical Release 2.0
  • Explain what data is reported by the EDI Medical Release 2.0 Standard and what the data is used for
  • Understand how to successfully navigate the sections and information presented in the Implementation Guide

Introduction of Proof of Coverage

This training module provides an overview of the IAIABC's EDI Proof of Coverage Standard. After completing the module, learners will be able to:

  • Understand what Proof of Coverage is and its purpose
  • Identify the POC stakeholders and their roles
  • Learn about available POC resources and where to find them
  • Gain an initial understanding of the relationship between WCPOLS and IAIABC data elements and how they are used

Introduction to the IAIABC EDI Standards

After completing this module, learners will be able to:

  • Describe, in general, what information is collected by each IAIABC EDI standard (Claims, Medical, and Proof of Coverage)
  • Identify the general elements of the IAIABC EDI standards and their purposes
  • Explain how the different elements of the IAIABC EDI standards work together

Proof of Coverage: Roadmap for Jurisdictions Moving from 2.1 to 3.0

This module provides a roadmap for jurisdictions who are looking at transitioning from POC Release 2.1 to 3.0.  After completing this module, learners will be able to:

  • Discuss the benefits of a standard for POC reporting
  • Review standard resources for POC 3.0 reporting
  • Understand the steps in transitioning data from POC release 2.1 to 3.0
  • Review acknowledgment considerations and project plan best practices
