Carisk Partners

IAIABC: Please provide an organizational overview (number of employees, years in business, vision)

Carisk: Headquartered in Miami, FL, Carisk was founded in 2011 as a Managed Behavioral Healthcare Organization
(MBHO). In 2017, Carisk introduced its Pathways 2 Recovery™ program to the workers’ compensation market by combining its behavioral health discipline with quality clinical services for catastrophic and complex workers’ compensation cases.

Today, Carisk Partners has more than 400 employees and is a specialty risk transfer and care coordination company serving insurers, government entities, self-insured plan sponsors and other managed care organizations across the workers’ compensation industry.

At the center of Carisk’s vision is a commitment to transforming the way patients and clients access the highest quality care and support services. By bringing together deep clinical expertise, a unique approach to each patient’s situation, and best-in-class healthcare data, the company is positioned to effectively partner with the patient, provider and payer to achieve clinical and financial outcomes that work for all parties.

IAIABC: How does your organization serve the workers’ compensation industry?

Carisk: Carisk serves the workers’ compensation industry through an integrated portfolio of solutions including Carisk Outcomes, Pathways 2 Recovery, HeadsUp Healthcare, Carisk Amplified Intelligence, Carisk Intelligent Clearinghouse, Carisk Imaging and Carisk Payment Integrity. Together, these solutions combine clinical, analytical, technological and business expertise to bring confidence and control to the most complex clinical and financial challenges across the workers’ compensation continuum.

Across the continuum, the goal is the same: ensure the right resources are engaged at the right time while keeping the individual at the center of the process. By combining whole-person care with actionable intelligence and measurable outcomes, Carisk helps clients navigate complexity while supporting better experiences for injured workers, providers and claims professionals alike.

IAIABC: What do you see as some of the major challenges the industry is facing, and how can we as a community address them?

Carisk: Workers’ compensation continues to face increasing clinical and financial complexity, particularly in cases where multiple medical, behavioral and psychosocial factors can influence recovery. When those risks are not identified early, they can contribute to delayed recovery and greater long-term claim exposure.

As an industry, we have an opportunity to improve early identification and intervention, as well as collaboration across the stakeholders involved in a claim. Bringing together treating providers, claims professionals, case managers, employers, injured workers and families can help close communication gaps and support more coordinated care. Pairing that collaboration with data-driven insight and clinical expertise can help teams identify risks earlier and better inform decision-making throughout the recovery process.

IAIABC: Are there any projects/programs/initiatives going on at your organization that you are particularly excited or enthusiastic about?

Carisk: Carisk Amplified Intelligence combines advanced AI technologies, data-driven insights and human expertise to improve the early identification and intervention of high-risk cases. It reflects Carisk’s belief that technology is most powerful when it amplifies—not replaces—the judgment, experience and compassion of the clinical teams managing complex and catastrophic cases. By bringing these capabilities together, we can help deliver more informed decisions, more connected care and better outcomes.

IAIABC: What's an interesting fact about your organization that most people don't know?

Carisk: What many people may not realize is the breadth of expertise that exists across Carisk. We bring together specialized capabilities spanning complex care, behavioral health, ancillary services, payment integrity and healthcare technology—all connected by a shared commitment to improving outcomes for injured workers. That combination allows us to address unmet needs in ways that point solutions often cannot.

IAIABC: Why is your organization a member of the IAIABC? What would you tell others about the benefits of membership?

Carisk: Carisk values the opportunity to be part of a community that brings together stakeholders from across the workers’ compensation industry. IAIABC membership gives us a forum to stay connected to evolving industry priorities, exchange perspectives with peers and regulators, and contribute to conversations that can improve the way workers’ compensation operates.

For Carisk, the greatest value is collaboration and partnership. The challenges facing workers’ compensation are complex, and progress requires organizations across the industry to share ideas, learn from one another and work toward practical solutions that benefit the entire system.
