About

The EDI Claims Foundations training provides a great opportunity for jurisdiction and industry participants to learn about the IAIABC Claims Standard and how to use its resources. This virtual, three-day program is designed for those who may be new to EDI, with a focus on Claims Release 3.1. Participants will have the opportunity to meet via Zoom and learn from industry experts in addition to self-paced learning content.

Topics include:

  • EDI Basics

  • Implementation Guide

  • Trading Partner Profiles

  • First Report of Injury (FROI) Logic and Match Data

  • EDI Trading Partner Document Walkthrough

  • Subsequent Report of Injury (SROI) Timeline

  • Sequencing Logic

  • Benefit Anatomy

  • Update Reports (URs) and Legacy Claims

  • Error Corrections

  • Jurisdiction-Specific Workflows

  • System Flow and Timeline

  • EDI Best Practices

  • …along with several hands-on activities to put these concepts into practice!

Please note that all participants will be expected to commit around 2-3 hours a week as they attend a two-hour virtual classroom and utilize any self-paced learning materials. By registering for this program, you agree to participate to the best of your ability in order to make this a worthwhile training for other students and the instructors. Additionally, live sessions will be recorded for use on educate@iaiabc. Participants will have access to recordings for 6 months after the event.

Digital Credential

Participants who complete the entire program, finish all assignments, and pass the final test receive the IAIABC EDI Claims Foundations digital credential. Digital credentials, or badges, are a visual representation of skills or achievements earned by an individual through completion of specific programs, courses, or other activities. Badges are instantly verifiable and shareable. They serve as a way to showcase skills and achievements in a way that is not possible with a paper certificate.

The digital credential will be issued to participants who successfully complete the following requirements:

  • Attend at least 2 of the 3 live sessions to participate in hands-on activities

  • Watch* any non-attended session recordings

  • Complete all pre-work and homework assignments

  • Passing score on the final test

*Although recordings will be available, we highly recommend participating in the live sessions to get the most value out of your experience.

To maintain the IAIABC EDI Claims Foundations digital credential, you must retest every two years.
