A How-To Guide for Injury and Work Disability Prevention

A How-To Guide for Injury and Work Disability Prevention

Work disability occurs when a person is unable to stay at work, resume working, or return to work due to an illness or injury. Different than medical disability, the determinants impacting work disability are all non-medical. Preventing the onset of needless work disability, not to mention the injury itself, is critical to the injured worker, but also important to other stakeholders in workers' compensation, including the employer; insurer; caregiver; and government. A How-To Guide for Injury and Work Disability Prevention shares best practices and resources for stakeholders to address the prevention of work disability within their own organizations and systems. The paper was developed by the IAIABC Disability Management and Return to Work Committee.
